Definitely take the water reception offers. The walls are thin, baby next door cried a lot. The patio was dirty and littered with cigarette butts. When we went to claim them, it took 30mins and a Supervisor to find them.ġ0. We had checked our bags with the bellman upon arrival. 6pm I was tired and decided to call reception. We found the pool and waited for there for a text that never came. Front desk was not helpful or accommodating. Checked in after 4pm and had to wait for room which was not ready.Ī. The lobby and elevators had an unbearable noxious smell we had to hold our breathe. It made our stay pleasant and delicious.ħ. From the back of the house to the front, Attention to details and teamwork was very evident at the restaurants. Bottomless Belvedere bloody marys (shaken if you ask)Ħ. Buttermilk pancakes and eggs benedicts made to order. Fresh sweet oysters (NO grit!) Sushi rice was perfect! Ny steak was delicious and tender. Loved it! We will be back as often as possible. Attention to details was evident, even the grilled broccoli tender and crisp.īrunch. What great teamwork! Paul filled in for Sergio as we if we were his own.Ĥ. Always willing to go a step above, like shaking our bloody mary so I didn't have a toothache.ģ. Starting with the service, Sergio attentive but not intrusive. Brunch at the Fountain, I can't rave about this meal enough. My husband enjoyed a picnic in our poolside room.Ģ.
We were celebrating and I suddenly didn't feel well so he packed up our dinner. We dined at the the Grill for dinner and was served by Steve.
My husband and I were gifted a minimoon stay at your beautiful hotel.ġ. Earlier in the evening, you're likely to run in to groups of friends getting together for happy hour and light appetizers, and stay late and you'll get a mix of local surfer bros and UCSC students, both undergrads and graduate students. For some people, it sets a more amorous tone, and for others, a more aggressive feeling for which if you stay long enough during the night, you're bound to see a confrontation or two. On the topic of ambiance, it all starts with Red, which stimulates different emotions in different people. On the topic of mixed drinks, they have a decent menu of cocktails, and I've always found the bartenders to be fairly knowledgeable of the classics. They have an extensive selection of liquor whether you're looking for a classy glass of whisky or you're just looking for cheaper mixed drinks. In terms of drinks, they have a nice selection of draft and bottle beers. I've gone to the Red many, many times over the years, and you can get basically anything you seek there. I've only eaten at the restaurant once or twice and don't have too many memories, and the downstairs warrants its own review. This review is for the upstairs bar, not the restaurant nor the downstairs Red Room.
